Under the guidance of the China Computer Federation (CCF), the first AFAC2023 Financial Intelligence Challenge was recently held jointly by several financial institutions and universities.
The competition attracted 813 teams from universities and well-known enterprises, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Zhejiang University.
Kunlong ZHANG, a master’s student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), won the third prize.
SUSTech’s participating team was guided by instructors Research Assistant Professor Guiying LI and Assistant Professor Peng YANG, both of the Department of CSE.
The AFAC2023 Financial Intelligence Challenge consisted of three major directions and six sub-competitions.
Kunlong ZHANG noted that during the competition, the two instructors not only imparted theoretical knowledge, but also encouraged him to think deeply about the essence of the problem through superficial phenomena and have the courage to try new methods and ideas.
Compared with previous financial technology competitions, AFAC2023 focused more on the implementation of AI technology in real-life financial business scenarios, with more complex tasks and a more stringent capability model assessment.
Since its inception in June this year, it has attracted 4,728 teams to participate, including students from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, and other universities, as well as individuals from major banks and other financial institutions.
