On November 8, Bill Flanagan, President of the University of Alberta (UA), and his delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Li JIN, Vice President for Global Strategies, Zhenghe XU, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Hao CHEN, Executive Deputy Director of SUSTech Global, held discussions with the guests.
President Qikun XUE gave a brief introduction to SUSTech’s development since its establishment, and anticipated that both sides would deepen scientific cooperation and explore educational opportunities reciprocally.
President Bill Flanagan presented an overview of UA’s current state of affairs and elaborated on its recent scientific research and innovation. He pointed out that among its cohort of international students studying at UA, a significant number are Chinese nationals, which has become a bridge for cultural exchange and academic collaboration between both countries.
Bill Flanagan acknowledged SUSTech for its scientific research results and campus environment. He praised the academic achievements made by SUSTech in the last 13 years, and expressed that both universities would strengthen their partnership to promote scientific innovation, sustainable development, and potential fields of collaboration in relative programs.
Vice President Li JIN provided an overview of SUSTech’s continual communication with international institutions and reiterated the mission of deepening global collaboration.
