On November 29, Ke LIU, Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Foreign Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering, invited Xuhong QIAN, President of East China Normal University (ECNU) and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and his delegation to visit SUSTech for exchanges.
Additionally, Xuhong QIAN was an honored guest at the SUSTech-TCL Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lectures, where he delivered a report on the impact of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) education on building an innovative society in the future.
Jiaxun HE, Executive Director of the Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer at ECNU, and other esteemed colleagues accompanied the delegation during the visit.
In advance of the meeting, Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, engaged in fruitful discussions with Xuhong QIAN. Both parties expressed their desire to deepen collaborative ties and engage in cooperation in talent training, scientific research, team development, and other areas. Their shared aim is to contribute significantly to higher education reform in China.
During the visit, Xuhong QIAN conducted a comprehensive analysis of the influence of CTO education on the future development of an innovative society. This involved analyzing the historical evolution, distinctive talents, and the pivotal role of CTOs, and delving into ECNU’s exploration of CTO education.
Considering the significance of CTO roles both domestically and internationally, coupled with the existing landscape of CTO education, Xuhong QIAN emphasized the need for a revamped education system to foster the growth of CTOs and their prospective talents.
He shared the guiding philosophy and innovative approaches employed by ECNU in shaping its CTO education system, noting that it had achieved the goal of “transformation of scientific and technological achievements” through exploring a training model tailored to high-tech transformation and industrialization leaders.
The delegation also visited the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements and participated in an enterprise visit organized by the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
