SUSTech hosts 4th National Symposium on Ultrasonic Processing Technology

From April 12 to 14, the 2024 (4th) National Symposium on Ultrasonic Processing Technology convened at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

The symposium brought together over 400 guests and scholars from local governments, academic institutions, and enterprises to delve into ultrasonic processing technology’s latest advancements and emerging trends. Discussions revolved around the integration of scientific research with industrial applications.

Among the attendees were Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Qiang WU, Vice Chairman of the Non Traditional Machining Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), Jieqiong LIN, Vice President of Changchun University of Science and Technology, Junliang XU, Secretary-General of the Non Traditional Machining Branch of the CMES, Chengyan NIE, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Electrical Machining and Mold journal, and representatives from the Longhua District Science, Technology, and Innovation Bureau.

The symposium’s main venue featured six experts and scholars delivering keynote addresses, accompanied by eight parallel sub-venue sessions comprising reports and exhibitions. Additionally, each branch venue hosted 16 experts presenting reports, complemented by 52 oral presentations and 23 poster displays.

During the opening ceremony, President Qikun XUE extended a warm welcome to all participants, envisioning the symposium as an inclusive platform for enlightening exchanges.

Qiang WU delivered a speech on behalf of the Non Traditional Machining Branch of the CMES.

The keynote session at the main venue was chaired by Libo ZHOU, Professor at Sun Yat-Sen University, and Pingfa FENG, Professor at Tsinghua University. The six distinguished scholars and experts that delivered keynote reports included Mingwang FU, Deyuan ZHANG, Qinhe ZHANG, Tianfeng ZHOU, Qiang WANG, and Pengfei ZUO.

At the sub-venue, discussions centered on topics such as ultrasonic-assisted processing, ultrasonic forming and processing, ultrasonic devices, and power ultrasonic processing. Participants engaged in extensive exchanges and discussions on research progress, technological innovations, and application prospects.

Poster presentations featured contributions from industry leaders such as Shenzhen Maifei Precision Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Nanke Jia’an Robot Technology Co., Ltd., the Frontier Manufacturing Science Laboratory of SUSTech, and Beijing Technology and Business University, showcasing the latest industry products and research.

The 2024 (4th) National Symposium on Ultrasonic Processing Technology, an important event in the field, was organized by the Non Traditional Machining Branch of the CMES and hosted by the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at SUSTech in collaboration with Shenzhen Maifei Precision Co., Ltd.

The symposium not only showcased recent research results in ultrasonic processing technology and industry-academic partnerships, but also reinforced university-enterprise collaboration. It further propelled the advancement and adoption of ultrasonic processing technology in China’s high-end manufacturing sector, contributing to the nation’s pursuit of high-quality technological development.
