The IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE OES) recently announced its latest list of Distinguished Lecturers, naming Ye LI, Professor of the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), as one of four new global representatives.
Professor Ye LI is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). He serves as the Director of the China-Australia Joint Center for Offshore Renewable Energy Harnessing Technology and the Chief Scientist of the Guangdong Intelligent Operation and Maintenance Engineering for Offshore Wind Power Center.
Previously, Professor LI held positions at the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the United States. His main research interests include wind and ocean energy, water wave dynamics, and ocean vehicles. He has led a number of projects for the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The IEEE OES is a society focused on all aspects of science, engineering, and technology that address research, development, and operations pertaining to all bodies of water. This includes the creation of new capabilities and technologies from concept design through prototypes, testing, and operational systems to sense, explore, understand, develop, use, and responsibly manage natural resources.
The Distinguished Lecturers Program aims to provide high-quality speakers to the oceanic engineering community, including OES chapters, student branch chapters, and student clubs.
Currently, the IEEE OES has more than 20 Distinguished Lecturers from leading universities and research institutions in the field of ocean engineering and technology worldwide.
