SUSTech faculty members enjoy grand musical “The Road We Have Taken “

On September 8 2017, the hit drama and the patriotic-themed epic “The Road We Have Taken” was staged in the Grand Theater of Shenzhen. About 700 SUSTech faculty members watched the performance. Also present at the production were the University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice-Chairperson Li Fengliang, Director of Residential College Han Wei and various other senior members of the university administration.

The organization of this patriotic education drama is for SUSTech to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s national ideological and political framework and the spirit of his important speech, as well as the ideological and political framework in Guangdong province. The start of the new semester is the ideal opportunity for this, as new students can attend a special ideological and political education class, and it also offered the chance for professors to further understand the national conditions and history of a vivid form.

The Xibaipo Days, during which the Chinese revolution spread from rural to urban areas, and transitioned from war to peace, from revolution to construction, is considered as a major turning point in Chinese history. “The Road We Have Taken” is a production features songs such as “Hot land”, “Winning”, “Breeze”, “Exam” – in total 17 songs including classic choruses, singing, duets and drama as well as other artistic styles to create a renactement, with detailed scenes and a splendid stage decoration. It is commonly said that in Xibaipo one can find the true roots and soul of the Chinese dream.

The show made its debut at the Grand Theater in Shenzhen, and ended with the audience’s passionate applause. SUSTech faculty members have said that watching the show deeply moved them.
