The inaugural conference of the OpenHarmony Technology Club of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) recently took place at the University’s Convention Center.
Organized by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering with support from the Technical Steering Committee of the OpenAtom OpenHarmony project (OpenHarmony), the event highlighted cutting-edge technologies, explored open-source culture, and discussed innovative approaches to student development.
The conference was attended by Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson, and Haibo CHEN, Chair of the OpenHarmony Technical Steering Committee, along with more than 100 participants, including representatives from industry, academia, and various departments at SUSTech.
Chairperson Hong JIANG highlighted SUSTech’s important role in advancing national strategies and promoting the integration of education, talent development, industry, and innovation. She noted that in the context of rapid global technological advancements, the establishment of the OpenHarmony Technology Club of SUSTech marks a significant milestone, offering faculty members and students a valuable platform for collaboration and exchange.
She expressed her hope that the club would serve as a dynamic stage for showcasing talent, promoting teamwork, and driving innovation, while injecting fresh momentum into academic research and university-industry collaboration.
In his remarks, Haibo CHEN acknowledged SUSTech as a trailblazer in higher education reform, emphasizing its great potential to become a hub for technological innovation.
He hoped the newly established club would be a collaborative platform, integrating industry, academia, research, and application. By fostering strong university-enterprise partnerships, the club aims to drive the advancement of OpenHarmony technology and contribute to the growth of a thriving community.
Perry Shum, Director of the OpenHarmony Technology Club and Deputy Head of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at SUSTech, shared the club’s vision and development strategy. He highlighted key initiatives in talent cultivation, academic competitions, curriculum development, hands-on training reform, and university-industry collaboration.
Zhangbo QIN, Vice President of iSoftStone and General Manager of Honghu Wanlian, also presented a report at the conference on Honghu Wanlian’s approach to university talent development and industry-education integration.
At the event, Perry Shum and Haibo CHEN presented certificates to the inaugural group of university and industry mentors.
Launched in July 2022, the OpenHarmony Technology Club program is designed to strengthen industry-university-research collaboration and accelerate technological innovation and application.
It encourages faculty members and students to engage in OpenHarmony technology research, undertake related scientific projects, and explore innovative solutions. It also regularly hosts various technical competitions and challenges to nurture the development and growth of the next-generation terminal operating system community.
