On March 28, a delegation led by Mikael Lindström, Deputy President of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Hong Jiang, University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, welcomed the delegation.
During discussions, Chairperson Hong Jiang highlighted the positive momentum of the partnership between KTH and SUSTech since 2019, particularly in the fields of engineering, applied technology, and advanced materials science. She expressed SUSTech’s strong interest in expanding collaboration with KTH and hoped that the two institutions would focus on fostering cooperation in design innovation, creating a wider international platform that enhance global visibility for scholars while providing world-class, interdisciplinary learning resources.
Deputy President Lindström applauded SUSTech’s rapid development and innovative approach, particularly commending the School of Design’s research paradigm, which aligned well with KTH’s own strategic priorities in sustainable development. He suggested that both sides could explore cooperation in joint research projects and workshops. He also extended an invitation to SUSTech to visit KTH to detail collaborative research and academic mobility.
The delegation, which included Ulf Karlsson, Professor Emeritus at KTH, and Yingfang He, Senior Advisor for Project Support at the KTH International Relations Office, also visited SUSTech’s School of Design and the Pico Center. Lars Samuelson, Director of the Institute of Nanoscience and Applications; Jiaqing He, Director of the Office of Research; Wei Liu, Professor of the School of Design; and Wei Hong, Director of SUSTech Global, also participated in the discussions.
