On the evening of October 19, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its 2025 welcome party for its freshmen at the University’s Convention Center.

The event was organized by the Students’ Union under the guidance of the Youth League Committee of SUSTech.

The welcome party opened with vibrant performances that captured the spirit of youth. First-year undergraduates Fei WANG and Keyi REN performed “Superhero” and “Leaving the Earth’s Surface.” Their renditions paid tribute to the energy of youth and encouraged new students to embrace every journey ahead with confidence and enthusiasm.

The first chapter of the evening featured a variety of performances. Traditional Chinese music and pop melodies intertwined to evoke nostalgia, medleys of animated theme songs rekindled childhood memories, and elegant dance movements flowed gracefully like water around stones. Heartfelt songs conveyed warm wishes to the incoming students, creating an atmosphere filled with vitality and emotion.

The second chapter highlighted the diversity and dynamism of the SUSTech community. Street dance acts energized the crowd, band performances radiated passion, and dance pieces brought back the exuberance of youthful days. Magic performances added a touch of wonder, captivating the audience throughout.

Music and dance merged in the third chapter of the evening, which lit up the stage with brass ensembles, guitar performances, folk songs, and dance acts. Together, they expressed the students’ passion and aspiration in chasing their dreams.

The final chapter featured an orchestra and choir performance that captivated the audience. An emotional poetry recitation revived cherished memories, while the concluding chorus expressed heartfelt blessings for everyone at SUSTech.

The welcome party concluded with the audience uniting in a sing-along, with the new students looking ahead to a bright future at the University.
