SUSTech’s Max Q.-H. MENG receives IROS Harashima Award for Innovative Technologies

The IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2025) took place in Hangzhou from October 19 to 25.

Max Q.-H. MENG, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, was honored with the IROS Harashima Award for Innovative Technologies, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of intelligent robotics and systems.

The award recognizes scholars who have made groundbreaking contributions to robotics and intelligent systems. He becomes the twelfth recipient of this honor since its establishment and the first scholar from the Chinese mainland to receive it.

He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has been recognized as a distinguished talent in both Shenzhen and Guangdong Province. His research focuses on robotic perception and intelligent technologies, with notable advances in medical and service robotics.

Professor MENG’s work has not only driven technological innovation in robotics but has also contributed to improving the quality of human life.
