A delegation from China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD), led by Vice President Xiaodong ZHAO, recently visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) for exchanges.

Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, met with the guests for discussions.

Chairperson Hong JIANG noted that since the formal signing of the strategic cooperation agreement between SUSTech and CHD, both sides have strengthened collaboration and advanced related initiatives.

Looking ahead, she expressed hope that the two parties would continue to align their efforts with national strategic needs, jointly explore new areas of cooperation, develop a clear list of collaborative tasks, and establish a sustainable long-term partnership.

She emphasized that practical and efficient cooperation will support both the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and talent development, enabling them to make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the nation’s marine energy sector.

Xiaodong ZHAO acknowledged SUSTech’s rapid and high-quality development. He stated that the two sides have already begun joint research in cutting-edge fields such as offshore wind power, marine energy development, and artificial intelligence, and are actively applying for major national R&D programs.

Regarding future cooperation, he expressed expectations for deeper cooperation in key areas such as offshore wind power operation and maintenance, as well as basic design and manufacturing technologies. He emphasized the importance of strengthening innovation in core technologies, and working together to undertake major national projects. This, he said, would help achieve a new stage of mutually beneficial, high-quality development.

As part of their trip, the delegation was given a tour of the campus and visited the SUSTech exhibition of development and achievements.
