On April 10, the opening ceremony and garden fair of the Fifth Science and Technology Culture Month at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), themed “Smart Reading at SUSTech, Empowering a Brighter Future,” was held at the Big Banyan Tree Square. Hong JIANG, University Council Chairperson, Ling ZHANG, University Council Vice-Chairperson, attended the event along with the heads of relevant departments and schools.

The fair carefully set up more than 20 booths, covering cutting-edge technology experiences, fun interactive challenges, public welfare support for farmers, charitable donations, book sharing, and more. Hong JIANG and her party visited several themed booths, spoke with participating teachers and students, and gained a detailed understanding of the booths’ innovative achievements and project concepts. She praised the students for demonstrating innovative thinking, practical abilities, and a sense of social responsibility in their projects.

Inauguration Ceremony of the Student Association for Science and Technology
The inauguration ceremony of the Student Association for Science and Technology was also held during the event. Lingjun WANG, Minister of the Office of Student Affairs and Secretary of SUSTech’s Youth League Committee, Jian LU, Deputy Minister of the Scientific Research Department, and Yilin DIAO, student representative, jointly unveiled the plaque with Unitree’s robot dog Go2.

This Science and Technology Culture Month focuses on five main themes: scientific research and innovation, science and technology practice, popular science education, public welfare services, and reading in the prime of youth. More than 40 special activities have been planned.
