The research work revolves around the theme of “Innovative Talents Training Mode Reform”. The expert research team includes Zhang Yutai and the National Education Advisory Committee, Mr. Li Yanbao, Vice Chairman of the Reform Team of the Innovative Talent Training Mode, National Education Advisory Committee, Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhu Gaofeng, National Education Member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, vice president of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Tsinghua University professors, president of Qinghai University, Chinese Academy of Sciences Wang Guangqian and many other key guests.

Ms Guo welcomed the delegation on behalf of the university and gave a speech in which she pointed out that SUSTech was given the chance to explore and experiment with the modern university system with Chinese characteristics, to explore innovative talents training models, and that this made it an exciting and unique institution in the country.

Mr Chen then talked about the mission and objectives of the university, the governance system and operational mechanism, discipline construction, personnel, scientific research, the construction of a high-level science and engineering university, industry research and servicing regional developments, internationalization, personnel training, as well as a variety of other strategic topics. He said that SUSTech was developing and on the way to become an international high-level research university and that the process of innovation and talent training is one of the most important aspects of this goal.

Mr Zhang then followed and said in his speech that SUSTech is a university that is leading reforms, and that the Chinese education sector and the scientific and technological circles have high expectations of it. He pointed out that the research group dispatched to the university is looking to understand the key success factors, which include the “residential college system”, “tutor system” and many other key strengths. He concluded saying that he hoped SUSTech would create a new path in the Chinese education sector and lead the way, as well as become an icon on the international scene.

Li Yanbao, Zhu Gaofeng, Yang Le, Fu Huimin, Wang Guangqian and other guests also gave speeches at the meeting, fully affirming the rapid development of the university, the education and teaching reforms, and the innovative talents training, which have become its defining characteristics.

Li Yanbao especially praised the residential colleges and tutor systems. Zhu Gaofeng said that SUSTech has the best teachers and the best equipment, ideal conditions to attract top talents from the international community.

Key members of SUSTech’s faculty and administration also participated in the discussions and research activities.
