The 2026 Guangdong University Student Orienteering Championships wrapped up in Lianping, Heyuan. The Southern University of Science and Technology’s (SUSTech) students won two gold medals and one bronze medal in the competition.
The event brought together athletes from 59 universities across Guangdong Province, with over a thousand participants competing. It’s the highest-level and most fiercely contested university orienteering competition in the province.

SUSTech sent a total of six students to compete, with Teacher Xiyuan LIANG serving as the coach. Xiang YI the College of Engineering won first place in the men’s sprint event. The team consisting of Zhuoya HOU from Zhiren College, Funing YANG from Shude College, and Linling LIAN from the College of Engineering won first place in the women’s team event. Funing YANG from Shude College took third place in the women’s sprint event. The relay team made up of Xiang YI, Haotian DING from Shude College, and Zhiyu LUO from Zhiren College finished fifth in the men’s relay, and Linling LIAN placed seventh in the women’s points race.
