On July 2, 2026, the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held the “Lobster Freedom—SUSTech EE Dragon Palace Launch Event,” officially launching the SUSTech EE “Dragon Palace” platform and an integrated hardware-software solution based on the “Dragon Palace” intelligent system.

The “Dragon Palace” from SUSTech Electronics is an innovative development platform launched by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering for AI-era engineering education. It’s a “Lobster” host that integrates various AI platforms and intelligent agents. The platform focuses on three main areas, AI Agent all-in-one machines, AI-native engineering practices, and intelligent industrial applications. It offers a full hardware-software solution covering the entire teaching and learning process. Equipped with the Magi Agent desktop intelligent agent, it comes with built-in multi-model capabilities and numerous expansion interfaces, creating a personal AI workspace for teachers and students. It supports a variety of educational and research scenarios, including course learning, research paper reading, code development, hardware debugging, and teaching assistance.

It is reported that the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering will provide every new student with this exclusive “AI Study Buddy” to help with course learning and innovation experiments. The launch event also rolled out the “Faculty-Student Intelligent Agent Co-Creation Program” and a call for outstanding projects, encouraging teachers and students to carry out personalized development and design on the “Longgong” platform, continuously expanding the application scenarios for intelligent agents, and building a positive ecosystem of mutual learning and shared creation.

In his speech, Qinghu MENG, Chair of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Academician of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, said that in 2020, the department launched an innovative experimental curriculum reform called “Building Gadgets, Writing Apps.” Its goal is to cultivate students’ software and hardware development skills, enabling graduates to have the professional ability to “hold hardware in one hand and apps in the other,” always keeping up with the forefront of technology. With the fundamental changes in how knowledge is acquired today, the department will further deepen education and teaching reforms, focusing on “embracing AI” as the core concept and continuously exploring new teaching models for the new era. The platform is named “Dragon Palace,” which not only reflects the meaning behind the department’s special classes like “Wolong Class” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” but also symbolizes equipping students with “Lobster” AI learning companions in the AI era. This allows students to harness AI from the very start of their studies, fully use AI tools in courses, knowledge acquisition, and experimental innovation, and grow into outstanding talents who can master technology and lead innovation.

At the press conference, Professor Qingfeng ZHANG, Associate Director of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, introduced the research and development background of the “Dragon Palace” project. Li LIU, CEO of Shenzhen Pasuntech Co., Ltd., and Cangbai LI, AI Product Manager at Shenzhen OpenSource Turing Technology Co., Ltd., conducted on-site practical training for students as representatives from their partner companies, demonstrating the “Design Practice of the Dragon Palace and Dedicated Intelligent Agents” and the complete hands-on process from “vibe coding” to intelligent agent development.
