According to requirements in the Notice on Recommended Reform for Higher Education in 2015 by Guangdong Department of Education (Y.G.J.H. (2015), No.76) and combined with the Implementation of “Teaching Quality and Educational Reform” of the SUSTC” (N.K.D. [2013] No.48), the University organized and carried out recommendation and approval of educational reform programs in 2015. After being applied by the project principal, recommended by the department and reviewed by educational guide committee of the University, 9 programs were passed, including 2 programs as provincial educational reform programs. The program “research and practice of opening research-based teaching mode” by the Associate Professor Cheng Chun of Department of Material Science and Engineering was successfully approved as provincial educational reform program.

Under the background of higher education, the opening research teaching has become a development trend. “The research and practice of opening-research mode” researches and practices the opening research mode in frontier discipline and teaching, and extends to teaching practice of other disciplines.
