After an in-depth presentation on SUSTech and its various innovative mechanisms, he detailed his vision of building a world-class research-oriented university and highlighted the important achievements made in the last few years in building a top faculty.

Professor Yu Hongyu, vice-chair of the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering also gave the guests a presentation on his field including the latest achievements made in third generation semi-conductor research, a particularly exciting breakthrough.

Mr Zhao then gave a speech in which he discussed the development in the semiconductor industry in China, a sector in which Shenzhen has a particularly strategic role. He underlined the importance that the country attached to the development of this new field, and hoped that SUSTech would become a major leader in terms of innovation.

After the talks, the visitors visited the laboratories and the campus development model table.
