On September 13th, 2015, the activity of the “One Belt and One Road” National Conditions Investigation Service Group of Overseas Students to Xinjiang was initiated in Urumchi.SUSTC President Chen Shiyi, as the union head of the service group, gave a keynote report titled “Enhance the Introduction and Cultivation of High-end Talents, Serve the construction of ‘One Belt and One Road’ in Xinjiang” on the opening ceremony. He elaborated that the vigorous propelling of the introduction of high-end talents to Xinjiang and the development of local higher education play an important role in the social and economic development of Xinjiang.

During the period in Xinjiang, President Chen Shiyi went to Xinjiang Normal University and Xinjiang University respectively, made a science lecture titled “Hydromechanics—Start from the Parade to Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Victories in Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascism War”, and had an informal discussion with representatives of teachers and students, making a deep communication about topics of the cultivation of university talents, the education for students on innovation and entrepreneurship, etc..
