Li Ming, chairperson of university council of SUSTC was invited to attend the first “Trend in Lighting and Displays” international seminar held in Tianjin from Sept. 25 to Sept. 26. The seminar was sponsored by Tianjin Zhonghuan Electronic and Information (Group) Co., Ltd., undertaken by Tianjin Zhonghuan Lighting Science and Technology Ltd. and Tianjin Zhonghuan Quantum Science and Technology Ltd. and technically supported by Photonics for Energy Society and SUSTC.
Li Ming made a speech on the opening ceremony held on the morning of Sept. 25, he said, as an undertaker, the Zhonghuan Quantum Science and Technology Ltd. is a large enterprise group jointly created and founded by SUSTC and Zhonghuan Electronic and Information (Group) Co., Ltd. in Tianjin; it is an important attempt of the cooperation of industry-university-research of SUSTC and also is the best connection between the resources and industrial advantages of Zhonghuan and the talents and technical superiorities of SUSTC. Through the cooperation of academic world and industrial circle, the company assembles the innovation ability of colleges and universities, policy support of government, financial strength of enterprise and development capabilities of market, integrates the elements of innovation, forms a strong composite force of innovation, and then breaks through the industrial key technologies, drives the industrial upgrading and development of emerging industry, finally promotes the industrial upgrading of traditional upgrading and development of emerging industry.
Li Ming indicated that, the SUSTC, funded in the special zone of reform and opening up, regarded innovation as its core since its establishment, the school-running orientation of which is to create the international high level research university and the school running objective is to cultivate outstanding innovative talents, and try to be the important base of major national science and technology innovation in a short term. SUSTC has continuously explored for establishing modern university system since its foundation, introducing top-ranking professor team from the world, adopting brand new independent recruitment mode, applying international transformation of education, highlighting the cultivating mode that given priority to scientific research, all of which have attracted widespread attention and received high evaluation in domestic and overseas.
Li Ming said, SUSTC not only pays attention to the cultivation of innovative talents, but attaches great importance to the transformation of knowledge and technological achievements; it launches the first SUSTC Temporary Management Method for Undertaking an Enterprise (Trial) to formally encourage the innovation and entrepreneurship of teachers and students, establishes and strengthens industry-university-research related system and mechanism, builds professional service team of transformation of knowledge and technological achievements, constructs a platform of cooperation of industry-university-research, actively advocates the innovation and entrepreneurship of teachers and students, making the industry-university-institute cooperation to promote the rapid development of new and high technology and to become the strongest power of promoting the development of economy and the whole society.
Li Ming said that, the SUSTC has gathered a top-level talent team and continuously improved scientific research condition, thus the quality and achievements of the scientific research are rising; a large of excellent scientific research technologies and projects have sprung up, hatching many high-tech companies with competitiveness. The establishment of Zhonghuan Quantum Science and Technology Ltd. is a good example of the cooperation of industry-university-research in SUSTC and will further promote the development of knowledge and technological achievements of SUSTC to a higher level.
On Sept. 26, Li Ming, chairperson of university council, met the professors, scholars and entrepreneurs attended the seminar together with Zhou Jiabiao, Secretary of Xiqing District Committee of the CPC of Tianjin and Qu Defu, Manager of Tianjin Zhonghuan Electronic and Information (Group) Co., Ltd..

The attended international top experts, well-known scholars and university professors at home and abroad, senior managers from industrial leading enterprises discussed together about the development trend and prospects of LED lighting and display; analyzed the development trend and industrial layout, new technologies, new products of LED lighting and display in the next five years; discussed the hot spots of industrial development from market and different aspects of technology application and shared achievements of various innovative technologies through high-end speech, communication and interaction among round table. More attractive thing is that the Zhonghuan Quantum Science and Technology Ltd. jointly established by SUSTC has mastered the core technology in the field and has firstly used the quantum dot film directly to LED packaging in worldwide by using the special process developed by itself. The breakthrough of core process realizes the synchronization of domestic quantum dot film and world’s cutting-edge technology, accelerates the course of technology industrialization of quantum dot and marketization, breaks the situation of LED encapsulating material monopoly in the upstream made by Britain, America and Japan etc..
