Career Navigation Series Lecture
At 7:30 p.m. of September 29, the 1st phase of career navigation series lecture was being held in the Classroom 505 of No.1 Teaching Building. Senior trainer Ms. Tang Wei addressed the career planning lecture titled “Now and Future” for the students. The kernel content is how to choose one’s career road.
As the lecture began, Ms. Tang Wei shared her teaching at a university in Beijing with the students, and told her interesting story about “Fighting Wits and Courage” with the post 90s students. Later Mr. Tang asked the students to write out their brief answers to the three questions – “Who am I? Whom I want to be? How can I become somebody?” in a short time on paper.
With that, the students voted for the most important factors that decide one’s success after stepping into the society. Generally the students of SUSTC believed that blending in group and group cooperation were most essential. To her surprise, Ms. Tang said that this was her first time getting such answer. Later, Ms. Tang lectured 8 kinds of people that were weeded out by the society according to the analysis data and hoped the students could observe and judge themselves against it, taking account of interest, foresight, strong points and social demands in selecting career road.
In the later link, Ms. Tang raised a very interesting question – How to turn RMB 1 into RMB 10,000, which had no time limit but should be reasonable. On which the students made a heated discussion, each putting forth his own points of view. To the question, Ms. Tang drew out one important concept: FQ, which stands for financial quotient, and can be called the total of EQ and IQ as a matter of fact. After that, Ms. Tang told students the story of “Talent and Farmer” so as to convey them the information that sometimes selection is more important than efforts, for the farmer in the story easily got his wealth by dint of his FQ.
At the end of the lecture, Ms. Tang repeated the initial 3 questions and let the students write down their own short answers on paper again. After the wonderful lecture, the students had an obvious change towards their recognition, and began to have a brand-new planning for their future development. “Your today is decided by yourself, and your tomorrow is also at your will.” Ms. Tang presented this encouraging and expected words to the students to end the lecture.
