Three new postdoctoral scholars have joined SUSTech Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts this year.

The society, created in 2017 by a gift from Honor Society of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Southern University of Science and Technology, is an interdisciplinary community that seeks to bring innovative approaches to education at SUSTech. It offers outstanding young scholars who have recently received the Ph.D. the opportunity to enhance their teaching and research over a period of two years.

They will set up three general education courses at the University while pursuing their own research. Their work will inject fresh vitality into the development of the humanities and social sciences at SUSTech.

The Society of Fellows for 2017 were selected from a pool of applicants in different disciplines, by selection committees composed of well-known experts and scholars. The three young scholars selected were from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and the United States.

Recruitment for the second round will begin soon, and by the time fall semester begins in 2018, there will be more young fellows who start their teaching and research at SUSTech. Such an approach will create a unique and dynamic academic team in China and assist SUSTech in developing first-class humanities and social sciences disciplines.

The Society is looking for young scholars who have earned Ph.D. degrees who seek a superior academic environment. It focuses on nurturing future academic backbones and cultivating first-rate research results.

The Southern University of Science and Technology established the Honor Society to enhance the academic achievements of the university, aiming to create an open and interactive academic community. SUSTech carries out cutting-edge and innovative academic research and is looking for candidates that want to enhance the cultural atmosphere and academic culture accumulation of SUSTech.
