On April 8th, SUSTech hosted 30 principals and vice principals from 20 high schools across Liaoning Province for a workshop to strengthen communication with Liaoning high schools. SUSTech Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Lu Chun attended the forum.
Lu Chun introduced the subject performance of SUSTech in a variety of evaluation indicators from 2015 to present, including ESI essay rankings, CNCI, and the Natural Index, by comparing SUSTech against other advanced universities.
Vice Provost and Director of Office of Teaching Affairs Huang Kefu introduced SUSTech’s education model of “Credits, Colleges, Tutors” and “Internationalization, Individualization, and Excellence.” Vice director of Department of Materials Science and Engineering and Group Leader of Admission Professor Tian Yanqing introduced the admission and employment situation to the high school principals.
Director of Office of Admission Zhao Hongjun introduced the background, exploration process and operation methods of SUSTech’s “6+3+1” evaluation mode. Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School Wang Quan answered the questions such as “Why should your students choose SUSTech?” and “What can students learn in SUSTech?”. Director of Office of Safety and Environment Health and Group Leader of Admission Liu Lianfu answered many detailed questions from high school principals, providing extensive answers to every query put to him.
“SUSTech’s education mode for cultivating innovative talents is the future for education.” one of the principals said, “We hope that more of our outstanding students can enter SUSTech.” After the meeting, the principals visited the Pico Research Center, Physics Laboratory, and Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory.
