American Academy of Pain Medicine (AAPM) hosted its 34^th annual conference on pain medicine in the Pan Pacific Convention Center, Vancouver, Canada, April 25-29, 2018. At the opening ceremony on Thursday 26 April, AAPM President Dr. Steven P. Stanos announced that the AAPM’s 2018 Robert G. Addison, MD Awardwas given toXue-Jun Song, MD, Ph.D., Professorat the Southern University of Science and Technology for recognizing his outstanding contributions to the development of pain medicine and in developing global collaborations on pain medicine.Dr. Rollin M. Gallagher, Editor-in-Chief of AAPM’s official academic journal PAIN MEDICINE, presented Professor Song’s academic credentials to the conference, including his research career, academic achievements, and contributions in promoting the development and international cooperation of pain medicine. Dr. Gallagher, together with Dr. Stanos, then presented the award to Dr. Song. Following the award ceremony, Dr. Song gave the Addison Award Winnner’s presentation on opportunities and challenges in the development of pain medicine.

The Robert G. Addison, MD Award was created to honor the memory of the late AAPM president Robert G. Addison, an extraordinary professor and physician in the fields of orthopedics, pain medicine & rehabilitation and specifically for the work he did in developing global collaborations on pain medicine.
