SUSTech’s Cyber Physics International Seminar Opening Ceremony held in Shenzhen Talent Park

On January 5th, 2018, the Cyber Physics International Seminar sponsored by SUSTech and undertaken by SUSTech’s Department of Physics and Research Institute of Quantum Science and Engineering was held in Shenzhen Talent Park. Over 100 domestic and foreign experts and scholars including SUSTech’s Academicians Chen Shiyi, Tang Tao, Yu Dapeng, Yang Xueming, Tsinghua University’s Academicians Duan Wenhui, Xue Qikun, Peking University’s Academician Xie Xincheng and Chinese University of Hong Kong’s (Shenzhen) Academician Tang Shuxian were among the participants who gathered together to discuss the major issues of cyber physics.

During the opening ceremony, SUSTech’s President Chen Shiyi, Shenzhen Scientific & Technological Innovation Committee’s Deputy Director Zhong Hai, Deputy Director of the National Natural Science Foundation’s Department of Information Qin Yuwen and Tencent’s Vice President Wang Juhong delivered speeches.

This conference focuses on major physics issues such as quantum mechanics foundation of cyber physics which draw great attention from experts, and wishes to take this opportunity to accelerate the foundation and application layouts of high and new technologies in quantum communication, quantum computing and quantum materials. It also aims to import top talents to do inventions and innovations in Shenzhen, actively support Shenzhen’s universities and colleges, research institutes and enterprises to engage in domestic and international S&T cooperation, further promote the rapid development of the industrial structure of quantum information, construct an information industry system with Shenzhen’s characteristics and promote sound and fast economic growth.

Tsinghua University’s Vice President and Director of Beijing Academy of Quantum Information Sciences Xu Qikun and MIT’s Tenured Professor and Winner of 2017 Buckley Award Wen Xiaogang each made a keynote speech at the meeting. After the opening ceremony, the 4-day seminar will be conducted in SUSTech.
