Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by Shenzhen Foreign Economic and Technological Cooperation Promotion Association (FETCPA), the Seminars on Information Communication Technology (ICT) Application in Higher Education for Asian, European and African countries officially started on Wednesday on SUSTech campus. Vice President Tang Tao, Higher Education Research Center Director Li Ming, Vice President of Shenzhen FETCPA Fan Xiangdong, and Deputy Director of Shenzhen Economic Trade and Informatization Committee Li Danmei attended the seminars’ opening ceremony.
About 80 students enrolled in the seminars, and they come from twenty different countries across Asia, Europe, and Africa, including Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, South Africa, Uganda, and Sierra Leone. The students are officials of education authorities, professionals of information technology development for higher education, and senior management and academic/teaching staff at universities.
The 21-day seminar series aims to use a combination of topical lectures, symposiums, meeting and on-site visits to introduce China’s achievements in ICT and higher education reform. As a continuation of IT seminars for Asian and African countries in 2017, the 2018 seminars will provide foreign students with a clear overall picture of China’s informatization and ICT application in higher education. The students can learn from China’s successful experience, while SUSTech can use this opportunity to promote itself and reach for greater global impact.
