On June 22, Mayor of Shenzhen Chen Rugui led a delegation to SUSTech. The delegation included Secretary-General of Shenzhen Municipal Government Li Tingzhong, Vice Secretary Liu Jiachen, and leaders from the Shenzhen Education Bureau. Multiple SUSTech leaders accompanied the delegation, such as President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Tang Tao, Vice President Lu Chun, University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, Research Office Director Zhao Yusheng, Secretary-General Chen Siqi, Dean of Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering Yu Dapeng, Dean of Engineering School Xu Zhenghe, and Humanities Center/Shuli Residential College Director Chen Yuehong.

SUSTech leaders appreciated the continuous support that Shenzhen Municipal Government has been giving to SUSTech over the years. Guo Yurong said SUSTech would contribute to the building of a more innovative Shenzhen and strive for world-class status. Chen Shiyi presented the latest developments at SUSTech and promised a better campus when phase two construction completed.

After hearing reports from Guo Yurong and Chen Shiyi, Mayor Chen Rugui praised SUSTech’s achievements, promised further support, and anticipated SUSTech’s bigger role in Shenzhen’s future developments. The delegation then visited the 3D campus construction model, Electron Cryo-Microscopy Center, and Pico Center at the Materials Characterization and Preparation Building. The delegates had in-depth conversations with researchers at the centers and gained an overall understanding of the research environment at SUSTech.
