On July 8, the Structural Completion Ceremony for SUSTech’s phase II section IV took place at the construction site of the new student dormitory. Director-General of Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Public Works Qiao Hengli, SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, and Vice President Lu Chun attended the ceremony and poured the last bucket of concrete onto the site with workers and engineers.

President Chen appreciated the support from Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Municipal Government and hoped all parties involved could continue to work together to maintain SUSTech’s leading status in China’s higher education reform. Next, Chen Shiyi, Lu Chun, and Qiao Hengli visited the model student dormitory and inspected the sample of the Engineering College’s panel wall.

After the visit, President Chen listened to the detailed report on SUSTech’s phase II construction at an on-site coordination meeting. He also discussed the issues raised in the report and reached agreements with the construction team. He fully acknowledged the construction team’s efforts and hoped that all parties could finish their respective work on time with high regard for quality. Chen also stressed the importance of safety.

The construction of SUSTech’s phase II section IV mainly consists of new student dormitories, which included 3,222 rooms that cover an area of 125,400 square meters. SUSTech plans to open the new dormitories before September 2019.
