The International Symposium on Intelligent Transportation & AI took place at SUSTech from June 30 to July 1. The Forum was organized by SUSTech’s AI Research Institute and Hailiang Intelligent Transportation Research Center, while Deputy Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department (CSED) Hao Qi hosted the forum. Important attendees included Department Head Yao Xin, Hailiang Technologies’ President Hu Jianping, Dean of BYD Intelligent Ecology Research Institute Jiao Haitao, Robosense Technologies CEO Qiu Chunxin, Nanjing University Professor Li Wei, and Professor Yang Yi from the University of Technology Sydney.

Themed “Intelligent Transportation and AI,” the forum aimed to enable contacts and partnerships between leading transportation companies and recognized educational institutions. The event also aimed to promote academic innovation, interdisciplinary research and the application of advanced research findings in the relevant fields.

Yao Xin welcomed the attendees and gave his best wishes to both the forum and the future of transportation. Hu Jianping delivered the opening speech. He pointed out that Shenzhen has fully electrified all buses within the city, thus become a leading example for the nation. Hu said Shenzhen buses would be more intelligent and incorporate ridesharing elements, which would significantly alleviate traffic congestion and raise the efficiency of road usage. He believed intelligent transportation would serve the people better by integrating big data, artificial intelligence and smart driving platforms.

The forum revolved around intelligent navigation, collaborative awareness, intelligent planning, intelligent decision-making, smartcommunications, smart bus-driving platforms, and energy management. In discussing these topics, attendees also evaluated smart driving’s performance and its possible impacts on future transportation. Invited guests gave 12 presentations, including “The New Generation of AI Chip for Assistive Driving,” “‘Control’ in the Concept of Future Intelligent Transportation System,” and “An Introduction to BYD Intelligent Open Platform.”
