On August 26, 2018, the 2018 freshmen military training of Southern University of Science and Technology took place at the National Defense Education Base of Huizhou City. University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang and National Defense Education Base Director of Huizhou Yao Xiuhong attended the military training closing ceremony, commendation meeting and watched the freshman’s final performance.

Director Xue Zheng from the Office of Student Affairs presided over the ceremony and read out a number of commendations, including best team, best student, best instructor and best correspondent. All 2018 freshmen were reviewed after the rigorous training of military training.

Li Fengliang spoke at the end of the ceremony. He congratulated the 2018 freshmen who successfully completed the military training task and five glorious classmates. He expressed his gratitude to Huizhou City National Defense Education and Training Center.

Li Fengliang said that the students completed their military training extremely well in receiving and understanding the military theory of education. The students have enhanced the national defense consciousness and improved their patriotic enthusiasm. He commented that the freshmen had also hardened their will through the military training and imbibed themselves in the excellent qualities of hard work that thrive throughout SUSTech. He hoped that every student would bring back the good habits and styles developed during the military training to the future study and life. Li Fengliang was sure that the students would remember the missions and responsibilities of SUSTech and shape themselves into outstanding talents worthy of the times.
