At “Life Auction”
Pupils was actively involved in discussion and speaking
On October 26, 2014, “OCT Primary School • SUSTC Exchange Program”, organized by our student society “Public Welfare Organization”, was held in our beautiful school which received 35 six-grade students from OCT and their parents. Led by our volunteers, they personally experienced the study, scientific research and living environment here and attended a fabulous lecture on science, spending a pleasant, full and instructive afternoon here.
Starting from the general planning sand table of Administrative Building, 35 pupils and their parents visited our library, laboratory, basketball court and football pitch together with our 10 volunteers who enthusiastically introduced the building and environment on the way to them and answered questions raised by the visitors, quite a delightful tour filled with laughter. In the basketball court, volunteers also had an “Unlock the Bracelets” game for them to feel team spirit while playing.
After that, the pupils moved to the lake-side glass room, a playroom of Shuren College where volunteers painstakingly prepared a lecture on “Science and Dream” for them. The non-Newtonian fluid, a cutting-edge material introduced by a volunteer, aroused strong interest of the kids and they actively joined the discussions. Following that was another interesting activity called “life auction” that auctioned no certain objects, but various “temptations” of life like wealth and beautiful looks in an attempt to inspire them to think about choices of values.
At the completion of the activity, a lot of pupils were reluctant to leave. To them, this was a very fruitful trip, a trip that motivated them to be a SUSTC student in the future. Their parents also delivered recognition of our school.
