In the evening of April 16, 2015, the ShuRen College invited Professor Xu Baomin of SUSTC to give the report of “Rise of Silicon Valley and its Enlightenment” in the sharing meeting which washeld by the Teacher Yang Sheng of ShuRen College in the Library Lecture Hall.
Professor Xu Baoming was introducing the budding stage of the Silicon Valley.
The students were listening carefully.
After the starting of the sharing meeting, Professor Xu introduced what was the Silicon Valley,where the Silicon Valley was, some specific conditions in Silicon Valley and some companies located in the Silicon Valley from shallow to deep strata.
Professor Xu said, “When it comes to Silicon, a school -Stanford University must be mentioned”,and argued that one of important reasons for the success of the Silicon Valley in the development of Silicon Valley was that Stanford University, a young university, provided the talent guarantee to Silicon Valley. Compared with Harvard University and Oxford University, although the Stanford University was very young, just as SUSTC was also very young compared with Peking University and Tsinghua University.
Based on some practical experiences and personal feelings living in Silicon Valley as well as the understanding of Silicon Valley, Professor Xu told the development history of Silicon Valley to make the students have a certain understanding of Silicon Valley. In the process of introduction, Professor Xu suggested that the economy in the Silicon Valley had led the world through showing the curve of Silicon Valley’s development history. He also mentioned that the father of Silicon Valley and development of Silicon Valley, semiconductor era in Silicon Valley, and entrepreneurial histories of some generations of leaders of the Intel Company in Silicon Valley and so on.Professor Xu shared the interesting and vivid stories with students, and the students listened with relish.
