To commemorate the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on National Day, University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang led more than 400 teachers and students to the annual flag raising. Director of Student Affairs Xue Zheng presided over the flag raising ceremony.

At seven, the teachers and students assembled neatly below the flagpole. In everyone’s eyes, the bright red flag was escorted slowly by the student flag class. To the solemn sounds of the national anthem, the flag slowly rose, and everyone in unison sung the national anthem. Subsequently, the representatives for the residential colleges recited “My South and the North,” expressing their deep love of our teachers and students for the motherland and wishing the motherland prosperity and strength.

Following the raising of the flag, Li Fengliang spoke at the ceremony. He said that this year marks the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Our country has experienced ups and downs in the past 69 years and we have not changed our mind to work hard for the country’s prosperity. He said, “I hope that the students will make great efforts to make progress and make their own contribution to the development of the motherland.”

Zhang Ling, member of the Standing Committee of University Council and director of Communications and Public Relations, Wang Dejun, director of the Center for Political Education and Research, and the head of the Youth League Committee and the Residential colleges attended the flag-raising ceremony.
