In order to actively response to the strategicpositioning of establishing a globally famous high-level research university putforward in development strategy and discipline construction planning, theDepartment of Chemistry holds a seminar of development strategy from October 17to October 18, 2015. The seminar is hosted by professor and director of thedepartment, Zhang Xumu. Secretary General Dong Zhaojun of the university andoverall faculty and staff of the department participate in the meeting and havean intensive discussion.

First, Zhang Xumu has a general introduction to thepresent status of the department, development strategy and guidelines andtargets. And then, he provides detailed information of scientific research ofthe department in talents and team construction, scientific research overviewand laboratory construction and security. The participants have a discussionabout the urgent challenges faced by the department, especially improvement ofsecurity facilities in the laboratory, establishment of drug storage, securitytraining for experimenters and insufficient experiment space and so on.

On the meeting, Zhang Xumu has aspecial introduction about Grubbs research center and functional moleculesresearch center and has a new detailed distribution and deployment ofdeclaration in the two centers.

Dong Zhaojun gives a speech on the meeting. He praisesthe scientific research and teaching achievements of the department andrepresents that the university would give continuous and large support for theconstruction and development of the department, especially for declaration inresearch centers.

The strategic seminar has further identified the overalldevelopment direction and target of the department, clarified the developmentthoughts in scientific research, teaching and party construction and strengthenedthe cohesion of overall faculty and staff in the department to build the departmentinto a globally famous high-level discipline as soon as possible.
