On October 23, 2018, the Poland-China Bilateral Scientific Symposium on Emerging Technologies in Photonics and Electronics held by Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was held in the Taizhou·Shenzhen Innovation Center.
This Symposium is intended to intensify scientific collaboration between successful interdisciplinary research groups working on photonics and electronics in Poland and China.
Warsaw University of Technology and University of Warsaw were joined by many Chinese universities, like Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Shenzhen University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Shanghai University, Beihang University and Changchun University of Science and Technology.
SUSTech had representatives from the Departments of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. A total of 16 experts and scholars attended the forum. SUSTech Vice President Teng Jinguang attended the forum and introduced the situation of the school.
Five Polish scientists were invited to give a report on their research on the development of new sensing materials and equipment, stimulating debate among the experts. Hong Kong Polytechnic University Professor Jin Wei, Northwestern Polytechnical University Professor Mei Wei, Beihang University Yang Yuanhong, and SUSTech Professor Shao Liyang all made impressive presentations on fiber optic sensing. Scholars and experts from both China and Poland carried out valuable and meaningful discussions.
The Symposium was organized by Associate Professor Shao Liyang from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Visiting Professor Mateusz Smietana from SUSTech Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies.
