Three SUSTech Professors Elected To Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education

November 1 saw the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Steering Committee (Teaching Committee) meet in Beijing to establish their 2018-2022 committee. Professors Tang Tao, Huang Kefu and Xia Ke were all elected as committee members.

The Teaching Steering Committee is an expert organization hired and led by the Ministry of Education. It has the nature of a very academic institution and is entrusted by the Ministry of Education to carry out research, consultation, guidance, evaluation and service for undergraduate teaching in higher education. One of the main tasks includes the organization and carrying out of theoretical and practical research in undergraduate teaching. They also advise the Ministry of Education on professional construction, creating teaching materials, developing curriculums, establishing teaching laboratories and reforming higher education institutions. Other tasks include reforming teaching quality standards, undertaking consulting work on undergraduate teaching evaluation and undergraduate professional setting. They also organize teacher training, academic seminars, and conduct international exchanges. The Ministry of Education also issues a variety of tasks to the Committee.

After strict examination, the new session of the Education and Instructional Commission finally selected 5,550 members. There are 111 directors and 710 deputy directors. 3,611 of the committee members are new members, representing two-thirds of the total membership.
