The Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) worked with Nanke Zhengtu Company and Shenzhen Life Science and Biotechnology Association to jointly host the Science and Technology Innovator Summit. SUSTech’s Technology Transfer Center and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship were the co-organizers of the summit. Well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad attended the summit with more than 150 entrepreneurs and representatives of investment institutions.

The summit aims to provide a platform for biotech academics and industry to communicate and  stimulate the thinking of innovators. It also seeks to guide cutting-edge scientific research talents at university research institutes while deepening connections between senior technical experts of enterprises and universities. There are also opportunities for broader channels of cooperation between attending members.

Experts from SUSTech, the American Academy of Sciences, Yale University, the Fourth Military Medical University, Peking Union Medical College, Huada Gene R&D Center, Miner Medical, Beike Biology, the Shenzhen Association of Life Science and Biotechnology, Haplos Ding Chunming and Wenzhou Medical University also made substantial presentations. They shared the progress of their research as well as their plans for industrializing and commercializing their research.

As human concerns about health continue to deepen, global medical demand in the 21st century has increased rapidly. Biotechnology, precision medicine, and genetic technology have become the most active and most influential emerging industries in the 21^st century. It is also one of the major investment directions for globally strategic emerging industries. As a hot spot for innovation, it is one of the most important areas where China has a close relationship with the world.

SUSTech’s successful hosting of the Biotech Innovator Summit has shown how important this field is to the university and enhanced the influence of SUSTech in bio-health. Our involvement in this event is conducive to the acceleration of the industrialization of SUSTech’s scientific and technological achievement in biotechnology and related fields. It also promotes our innovative developments in Shenzhen’s bio-health industry.
