Guangdong University of Foreign Studies was again the host for a provincial sporting activity, with it this time hosting the 2018 Guangdong University Students Aerobics Cheerleading Championship. Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) sent its dance team to compete, and their successful campaign saw them leave with one championship and a third place.

This annual competition is hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. This year’s competition attracted over 1500 competitors from 113 universities across Guangdong. Lai Sha from the Sports Center instructed the team of more than 30, who came from different residential colleges and grades across SUSTech.

There are several different competitions within the larger championship, including competitive aerobics, mass aerobics, prescribed aerobic cheerleading, and hip-hop dance. The SUSTech competed in five different competitions, including campus line dancing, hip-hop dancing, jazz dance, cheerleading and street dance.

The SUSTech dance team won the campus line dancing competition and came third in the hip-hop dance competition. They also finished fourth in the cheerleading competition and fifth in the jazz dancing competition.
