Ocean Science and Engineering Department holds first postgraduate academic forum

As part of their commitment to stronger academic exchanges and improved diversity among postgraduates, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) saw its Department of Ocean Science and Engineering hold its first postgraduate academic forum in order to improve their academic level, scientific research, and innovative ability.

Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering Chen Yongshun and Deputy Secretary of the CPC SUSTech’s School of Engineering Committee Bao Chuanwen both attended the forum. Bao Chuanwen fully affirmed the significance of this academic forum, saying that this innovative effort could provide a new paradigm for postgraduate student management.

Chen Yongshun stressed that the forum aimed to cultivate the scientific research abilities of postgraduate students and encourage interdisciplinary studies among the students in the Department. The forum will be held regularly to create an important link in the training of postgraduate training in the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering.

The forum included reports of the academic achievements from the graduate students. Teacher and student representatives from different disciplines within the Department judged the presentations by the postgraduate students.

The first forum provides a platform for postgraduates to showcase their personal achievements. It further promotes interdisciplinary exchanges among students of different grades and fields thereby encouraging further ideas.
