In the morning of September 2, 2015, in the campus of the SUSTC full of vitality, more than 900 freshmen of Grade 2015 from all areas of China were assembled in rain to start their 10-day military training life. At 8:00 A.M., the opening ceremony of military training for freshman of Grade 2015 was carried out in heavy rain. The Secretary of Party Committee Ming Li, the President Shiyi Chen of the University and the political commissar of the Frontier Defense Team of Armed Forces in Shenzhen senior colonel Jun Zhang attended the opening ceremony. The Vice President Zheng Qin, the Vice President Chuanyue Wu, the Vice President Tao Tang, the Secretary-General Chaojun Dong, the Chief Account Qin Ye, the Vice Director of the Preparation Office Wei Han and all coach teachers joined the opening ceremony.

The students’ warmth was not faded because of the rain. They wore orderly raincoats and marched forwards, and were energetic.

After presenting the flag, the senior colonel Jun Zhang encouraged the students to challenge life and study independently, manage every case well, cherish the valuable experience in military training, learn to observe orders, comply with laws in just 10 days, temper their persistence, enhance friendship in unity and mutual assistance, and show a good appearance of the SUSTC students at the closing ceremony 10 days later.

President Shiyi Chen delivered respect to the senior officers, officers and soldiers in charge of training, and saluted the instructors leading the training and freshman. He said that, the disgraced history of China full of blood and tear told us that, one country must have powerful economic strength and national defense to be on the top of the world. He hoped that, the students could shoulder state and social responsibility, and built them into college students of the new ear with innovation spirits and mission undertaking. 

Subsequently,the instructors for the training performed brilliant military programs. The instructors’ close quarter combat technique shocked students, and the students cheered.

After the ceremony, the students will be in the intense and substantial military training life, and will continue the following four-year college life with wonderful state of mind after finishing the military training.
