Most students felt homesick on Middle Autumn Day withblooming flowers and full moon so Zhiren College held the first “Zhiren FamilyDay” series theme activities by well planning and careful preparation, whichcame into climax on September 27, the Middle Autumn Day and were marked withsatisfied full mark.

The “Zhiren Family Day” was planned as a result of “conspiracy”by Self-management Committee students of Zhiren College: holding an activity toleave a “permanently memorable” and beautiful memory for 2015 freshmen.

On September 25, Professor Zhang Xianke, popular amongSUSTC students entered “Friday dish”-“Zhiren lecture room (specially for MiddleAutumn Day)” with his special elegance, humor and talent to give students a spiritualfeast about traditional Chinese festival culture and family-country sensation.

The ”Zhiren English corner” was held on September 26,7:00 p.m. at Qilin Book Bar and many freshmen came here to share the wonderfulMiddle Autumn culture in English.

“Zhiren Family Day” came to its climax on September 27with “Zhiren family letter” distributed at the door of College office at noonand all students here started to make snow skin moon-cakes at 3:00 p.m,, hang lanterns,paste window decoration and arrange the site. “Zhiren Family Day” arrived at7:00 p.m by setting well cooked “big basin meals” with Shenzhen featuresbetween Building 1 and Building 2 of college and followed by tutors, 2015freshmen and upperclassmen. At the brief address, dean of Zhiren College, XuBaomin (Dean Xu) explained the original and symbols of “big basin meals” tohelp students leave home sickness, regard academies as their home and hope allof them to operate their “home” prosperously together.

When it came festivals in Shenzhen or even in the wholeGuangdong, all families members would cook and put their dishes into a basinand then all of them sat together to enjoy warmness, harmony and prosperousnessof big family while sharing delicious “big basin meal”. The “big basin meal” wasspreading its perfume with the basin looking like the full moon and symbolizingreunion, unity and friendliness. On “family feast”, teachers and students sung,acted together and freshmen and upperclassmen sung antiphonally to celebrateMiddle Autumn Day… The Chinese zither FishingBoat in the Evening added some freshness and grace for soft moon and allthe teachers and students painted beautiful landscape with bright moon andtalked about the joy to get together among their happy laughter and cheerfuljoys.

According to Dean Xu, this was the first “family day” ofZhiren College and all the following Middle Autumn Days would become “familyday” of Zhiren big family by inheriting year after year to enrich, improve andpromote gradually.

Students and teachers were enjoying themselves together.
