On evening of September 11, 2015, Zhicheng College held the first plenary meeting, the meet-and-greet between dean and students successfully on 2/F of students’ restaurant with more than 500 teachers and students and the dean, Professor Xia Zhihong (Dean Xia) and vice-dean of Zhicheng College for academy, Vice-professor Sun Dazhi (Dean Sun) addressed warmly. Besides, SUSTC CPC secretary, Li Ming (Secretary Li), vice-president, Wu Chuanyue (President Wu), some department directors and representatives of professors attended the meeting under host of vice-dean of Zhicheng College for administration, Lan Hai.

Secretary Li was invited to address for the activity for celebrating the establishment of Zhicheng College and welcoming 484 students to join this big family on behalf of the university. By reviewing his early learning history and teaching experience in Xi’an Jiaotong University, Secretary Li encouraged students to cherish the 4-year university life, learn diligently, temper their characters and morals and innovate bravely in order to keep good living and learning habit. Besides, Secretary Li asked them to learn mathematics under the guide of Dean Xia, globally famous mathematician to lay a solid foundation for scientific research in the future.

Under warm introduction of Secretary Li and invitation in person, Dean Xia in red T-shirt marked with “Zhicheng College” went on the stage with warm applause from whole audience by waving his hand to make first speech to all teachers and students from Zhicheng College and express his love and expectation for Zhicheng students with his five short sentences.
The first sentence “boys and girls, you are excellent!” From perspective of Dean Xia, SUSTC students were outstanding persons at this era with their solid academic bases and adventurous spirit “Don’t believe “one generation is poor than the previous one”, for this era belongs to you and you must carry forward”.
The second sentence, “hope you always to keep excellent”. Dean Xia waned students that even Harvard University, the global famous one gathering best students all over the world had the student poor in academic performance, for study was a long-term and hard course with perseverance and persistence rather than dripping half way. “Please spend a few minutes on thinking about how to avoid being dropped out or dismissed in university.”
The third sentence: “you are adults now so please keep independent with sense of responsibilities”. With his real case for cultivating his son, Dean Xia explained the importance for a college student to keep independent personality and sense of responsibilities lively.
The forth sentence: “We should be honest to each other”. Dean Xia hoped students to member “honesty” in the name of Zhicheng College, for “honesty was the foundation of living, which should not be changed in the colorful world”.
The fifth sentence: “I hope students to keep health in body and mind!” Then Dean Xia invited students by “running and climb together”: “How about making an appointment to run 10 km each week? Let’s make a contest: It’s about 2,000 km from Shenzhen to Beijing and we’ll see who can run to Beijing first. Will you accept the challenge? Many students responded to him immediately and all audiences here applauded loudly.

Dean Sun went on the stage latter to give a speech by sharing several points of experience for guiding students as a tutor of college for the past years, who laid emphasis on importance for the tutors of college to assist students to transit from middle schools to universities and from juveniles to young people in order to adapt to campus life and introduced many skills for students to adapt to campus life and study.
The students’ representative Xu Shuting and Ma Jian made a statement respectively to give their best wishes for Zhicheng College.

The activity came to climax at relaxed and pleasant intercommunication between teachers and students and the students sat near their favorable professors to listen for their wise ideas and thoughts and know about their lives for quite a long time.
