After holding the Zhi Xin Gala and tutor introduction meeting. Zhixin College have hold tutor double selecting meeting for three days from September 27^th. Almost all tutors have attended this meeting and they had a good opinion of our students. Students also enjoyed conversation with tutors finding another side of our daily life.

— Day 1 —

With night comes around the corner, flowers, desserts, tables and parasols marks the start of this enjoyable meeting.

On September 27^th, six tutors attended the meeting. They are Vice-president, Academic dean biology professor Chuanyue Wu, professor in Mechanics and Aerospace Xiaowen Shan, professor in Mechanics and Aerospace Peng Yu, professor in Chemistry Zhongren Chen, professor in Art center Baoyi Bi, professor in Environmental Science and Engineering Yi Zhen and professor in Environmental Science and Engineering Jianghong Shi whose nickname is “Shi Mama”.

Zhongren Chen, a professor in humorous words, inspired the students in the three outer layer surrounded. He introduced the chemical directional employment prospects. He said that if you want to continue to develop in terms of academic , you’d better to learn Science; If you want to learn graduate employment you’d better to learn Engineering and science class is suggested that Chemical and Physics; Professor Yu Peng advised students choosing a mentor to meet you want. Professor XiaoWen Shan was chatting with students to introduce his own researching direction. Professor Yi Zhen told us to pay attention to the curriculum at the same time while studying other classes. Additionally he said that he would take the students out, a term about two times, but please be students concentrate more on learning. 

As the same character of Cancer,  teacher Baoyi Bi’s teacher’s bright mind and talkative let us felt the finish of the teacher’s personality charm: comes leisurely teacher Bi , students came like bees chase flowers after seated and all of us listen to the teacher carefully. When we asked the teacher finish impression of freshmen. Bi said: “This is my first time to be a tutor and I did not know students very well, but I am willing to make friends with everybody, and get to know each other again.” Since Bi became tutor first time, she said: “I hope that through being a tutor I can give you some humanistic care, I may help you solve problems, share your stories with me whether sadness or happiness.” While talking about hobbies and joy. Bi said, “Enough to sum up them into the word superlatively, nice eating, drunk drink, funny playing with pleasant joy.

Professor Wu Chuanyue very pleased with freshmen and using “very good, high quality” as evaluation. As a tutor, professor Wu said: “university including in-class and after-class life, I think I can play a guiding role in everyone’s extracurricular life, learning, and even life development.”, then he said “I think I will try my best to help you.” Love swimming and ping pong, professor Wu is very willing to interact with the students, and “play” a lot.

Professor Wu also cares for the life of international students in SUSTech on whether students can adapt to canteen and the question of whether they can cook by themselves. Professor also asked and answered others with fluent English patiently.

Tutor double selecting meeting of the first day end in a joyful atmosphere. Two tutors gave us their words at the end of the meeting:

— Day 2 —

Comes the night, goes the heat. The second meeting starts surrounding by garden, rich food, and orange shadows.

Five tutors attended this meeting. They are Professor Hongwei Guo from Biology, major in the institute of Environmental Science and Engineering professor Youkuan Zhang and associate professor Chuanfei Guo, from the center of the higher education innovation, scientific and cultural organization (UNESCO), professor Ming li and professor in mathematics Xuefeng Wang. Li had just go back on a business trip. He came to school from the airport directly.

Professor Wang was concerned whether the students had adapted to the new environment, and keep up with the study. Many students asked professor Zhang some problems on major. Professor Zhang patiently answered one by one. With a young age professor Guo is popular with the students. Surrounding by students, Professor Guo shared his own experience of study abroad, and he also talked about the future as a tutor. “Shi Mama” also attends the meeting to answer students’ question on university life.

Being asked the impression of our students, professor Hongwei Guo directly said active and full of opinions.

Students asked questions actively. Professor Guo appreciated that students have active thoughts and express their views bravely. Learning and scientific researching require this attitude. Professor supported students to choose tutor according to major, so in the future to choose professional tutor can get help and guidance, the same would be happy to help students to solve some problems in their lives. Professor finally returned to students’ remarks, said SUSTech is a new promising school, he hopes that students have the confidence to explore with teachers. Both teachers and students together build a better SUSTech, and told students make good use of good resources, to learn, to experience, to engage whether learning or school community. ‘I hope that students can find what they love in the four-year university life and enjoy them.’

Professor Min Li came to school directly as soon as he landed at the airport. Li was kind and he like to talk with students.

Being asked the first impression of the students, professor Li use one word “good” to describe. He said, SUSTech students are better and better. As a qualified deep professor, he told his life experience to us, and warn that practice and contribution are significant. “In university you must depend on oneself, to study knowledge, to learn experience, I hope that every student can become the person you want to be after four years.”

Similar to the first meeting, second meeting was also end until the laugher away. Zhixin College prepared some presents for every tutor. Tutors enjoyed the meeting and hope every student will meet a wonderful life in SUSTech.

— Day 3 —

With cool wind flowing, the third meeting began. Lovely teachers, lovely students and lovely food got together again.

Today we have welcome finance associate professor Zhaojun Yang, Professor Qiang Zhu of Mechanical and Energy Engineering. We also glad that today we invited our college president professor Yimin Rong of Mechanical and Energy Engineering and college vice president professor Jianghong Shi of Environmental Science and Engineering. 

When talking about production with students,professor Rong firstly mentioned the industry and product of German. The product is extremely durable, but many Chinese products need repair very offen. Professor Rong also mentioned the Nanshan team. “School will support this item on finance, but we must use these money wisely. Of cause, not only money, school also will support this item in many other ways.”

Professor Shi give us an impression of kind and gentle. Being asked which kind of students would she like, she said she loved all kinds of students and all of them are excellence. Being asked what activities she will attend with students, she said she will likely take students to Shenzhen Museum in the weekend. As a professional person in Environment Engineering, professor Shi said everyone needs to pay attention to the environment around us. For example, if we let a bottle open and threw it into the sea, it will sink and make a less pollution. However, if we let a bottle closed into the sea, it will float and get more bottles together to form a plastic island which cause more pollution. Different living habits wound make variable results. Professor Shi also mentioned the street peddler. They are forced to make a living by selling things. Chenguan cannot get rid of them totally, so protecting environment needs more attention in details.

Teacher Zhu mentioned about interest. He said, although he studied Mechanical and Energy engineering, he never gave any pressure on his daughter to follow his path. His daughter now was in the field of art and sometimes needs money to hold exhibition. However, this was her interest and just do what she like.

Today’s meeting was extremely welcome, and it lasted about three hours. After a deep conversation with every tutor, everyone was reminded of the scientific side of tutors and the life side of them. Following the four-year time, they will give students care and help. We believe that we can make a wonderful life in SUSTech.

Three meetings over successfully. All students gain a lot and know a lot from our tutors. Since students have known some information from the introduction meeting, they get a deeper impression of all tutors. We believe everyone has memorized the words of tutors said and they will be with us during our university life.
