1st International Symposium for Biological Mass Spectrometry and Biomedical Research held at SUSTech

On November 7, 2016, organized by Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), co-organized by Shenzhen People’s Hospital, the “1st International Symposium for Biological Mass Spectrometry and Biomedical Research” was held at SUSTech, with the participation of over 80 experts from more than 30 research universities, institutes and hospitals at home and abroad. Wu Chuanyue, Vice President of SUSTech; Zhuang Qiankun, Head of Analytical Chemistry, National Natural Science Foundation of China; Chen Xianmei, Chief of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission and Zhang Xumu, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, SUSTech attended and addressed the opening ceremony. Associate Prof. Tian Ruijun of the Department of Chemistry, SUSTech presided over the opening ceremony.

The forum has come when the nation and Shenzhen are strongly advocating precision medicine research development. Under the theme of “Technical Development of Proteomics and Metabonomics Based on Biological Mass Spectrometry, and Its Application in Precision Medicine”, the attendees discussed the new concept, direction and path of advancing the wide application of biological mass spectrometry in biomedicine and precision medicine, presenting a fruitful “brain storm”.

The forum showcased the important role of biological mass spectrometry in biomedicine and precision medicine research, the attendees spoke highly of the forum, and the forum will play a positive role in promoting the wide application of biological mass spectrometry in precision medicine.
