From November 4 to 6, 2016, the 4th National Neutron Scattering Conference & National Symposium on Multidisciplinary Application of Neutron Source was held at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). This event was hosted by the Chinese Neutron Scattering Society in association with China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), the China Institute of Atomic Energy and the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Chemistry, China Academy of Engineering Physics, and organized by CSNS and SUSTech. Present were Chen Hesheng, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); Wang Dingsheng, a CAS member; Wang Haizhou, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), as well as nearly 200 representatives from over 20 domestic and foreign universities and research institutes.

Tang Tao, Vice President of SUSTech, attended and addressed the conference. Prof. Chen Hesheng and Zhao Yusheng, Dean of the Research Institute of Frontier and Interdisciplinary Sciences and Director of the Office of Research, SUSTech chaired the conference.

During the three-day conference, the attendees gave 56 academic lectures on subjects such as neutron scattering and neutron diffraction, and made full academic exchanges. While presenting a sumptuous academic feast, the conference has promoted the exchanges and cooperation among the attendees. The conference also presented the “Excellent Paper Award for Youth” to two outstanding young researchers: Luo Huiqian from the Institute of Physics, CAS and Li Haifeng from the University of Macau.
