The academic committee recently commissioned a panel of experts to review SUSTech’s Biomedical Engineering bachelor’s degree for assessment. Among the panel was industry leaders such as the head of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Biomedical Engineering Department and Fan Yubo, Chairman of the Biomedical Engineering Society of China.Professor Xu Zhenghe, Head of the School of Engineering briefed the panel on the latest development of the faculty while Wang Dejun, Head of Teaching and Working at SUSTech presented the teaching methods and applications of the university. Professor Cheng Fangyi, Head of the Biomedical Engineering department was also present to introduce his field to the panel. Following these meetings the panel reviewed the presentations and conducted their review.
The panel visited each laboratory, college and even the dormitories to gain insight on the students lives and standards. Their conclusion was that from the point of view of the constructions, the teaching staff, the working conditions and all the other points that were presented to them, the departments of Biomedical Engineering and of Biology had made significant progress. They suggested that the departments now focus on enrolling more top students and professors, and uphold the high standards of the university.After in-depth discussions, each member of the panel gave an individual assessment and ultimately all agreed that SUSTech’s School of Biomedical Engineering bachelors degree had reached the top industry standards, which delighted Professors Guo Xiangdong, Head of the School of Biomedical Engineering and Xiao Guozhi, Head of the School of Biology.
