On Friday 29 June, SUSTech was honored to have Vice Governor Yang Xingping from Sichuan Province lead a delegation to SUSTech to find out more about our campus. University Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice President Lu Chun accompanied the delegation.
University Chairperson Guo Yurong welcomed the delegation on behalf of the school. She introduced what is happening at SUSTech, going into detail about academic planning, the progress in the school’s plans, construction to new parts of campus, academic discipline setting and talent cultivation. Chairperson Guo also focused on the school’s unique board governance system and efficient personnel management system, as well as reflecting on the “6+3+1” admissions model and the distinctive role residential colleges play in student’s lives.
Vice Governor Yang Xingping was full of high praise for SUSTech, pointing out the numerous achievements SUSTech has made in a short period of time and wished SUSTech all the best in its years of development.
Yang Xingping was taken on a tour of the university. He was first taken to the 3D campus construction model, the scientific research exhibition board, the Cryo-electroscopy center and the Pico center. The delegation exchanged views with Director Zhao Yusheng from the Research Office, Director Wang Peiyi from the Cryo-electroscopy center and Director He Jiaqing from the Department of Physics. The Vice Governor was then taken to Zhiren College, where he was able to talk with teachers and students.
The delegation was joined by the heads of various Sichuan government departments, Shenzhen Municipal government departments, and SUSTech departments.
