On June 29, 2018, two innovative centers co-built by SUSTech and Kaisa Group Holdings Limited were officially founded. The centers are to be called the SUSTech-Kaisa Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and SUSTech-Kaisa Industry and Advanced Materials Innovation Center. Attendees of the opening ceremony included Kaisa Group President Wang Jiabiao, Assistant President Wu Dawei, and Dean of Technological Industry College Lu Youyuan. On SUSTech’s side, participants included Chief Financial Officer Ye Qin, iCollege Acting Dean Liu Ke, Department Head of Materials Science and Engineering Cheng Xin, and SUSTEF’s Secretary-General Tu Ronghui.
SUSTech and Kaisa Group previously signed a strategic cooperation contract on September 10, 2017, to build an applied platform for university-enterprise collaboration. The goal of the agreement is to develop the training of young talents further, strengthen the bonds between education and industry, as well as academia and research, and lead innovation in the field. The establishment of the strategic partnership between SUSTech and the Kaisa Group will help to give full play to and integrate the advantages and resources of each other’s respective fields. Kaisa Group also donated 20 million yuan to the university’s Education Foundation, which has been invested in the preparation work of the abovementioned two centers.
Located in SUSTech’s Innovation Park, the SUSTech-Kaisa Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center will foster innovative talents and curate applied projects based on Kaisa Group’s needs. In exchange, Kaisa Group will provide services such as industry resources, consultation, and capitals.
Co-operated by Kaisa Group and SUSTech’s Department of Materials Sciences and Engineering, the SUSTech-Kaisa Industry and Advanced Materials Innovation Center will strive to be a platform for advanced materials development and the industrialization of research findings.
The two parties also aim to play a major role in China’s economic transition and industry upgrades.
