Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host venue for the Guangdong Provincial Education Department to send a research team. Senior leaders from universities all over Shenzhen joined high-ranking officials from the Guangdong Provincial Education Apartment, along with SUSTech Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice President Tang Tao and Director of Major Projects Wang Susheng.

Shenzhen University, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, Shenzhen Vocational and Technical College, Shenzhen Institute of Informational Technology and Guangdong Xin’an Vocational and Technical College were all in attendance at the meeting.

The envoys from the Shenzhen universities discussed a variety of topics with the Education Bureau, including finding out the unique problems that were stopping universities from being efficient, breaking down those obstacles and improving talent pipeline with a view to promoting the development of higher education.

Guo Yurong said that the rapid development of SUSTech in recent years could not be separated from the support of the Provincial Department of Education, but also benefited from the reform and innovation of the school system. She committed to further innovations of SUSTech’s systems in order to find out how to further reform the University and better improve its innovative ability.

Vice President Tang Tao briefed the delegation about SUSTech, honing in on the implementation of the top innovative personnel training system at SUSTech.

The group traveled through campus and saw the residential colleges, before having a working lunch to continue their discussions.
