As November wrapped up, the University Catering Services Center invited Guangdong Province food safety administrator training lecturer Hua Yanping to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
She was invited to SUSTech to update the staff on new developments of food safety in the restaurant industry and provide new information about the Quantitative Inspection Standards Guide.
Hua Yanping represents the Food Safety Supervision Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Market and Quality Supervision Committee. As a law enforcement officer, she has been a member of the Expert Group of the Interpretation of Food Safety Practices for Catering Services through 2018. Hua Yanping is also a member of the Guangdong Food Safety Demonstration City Evaluation Expert Group.
Hua Yanping emphasized in the lecture that the people take food as their first priority. The implementation of the state’s food safety strategy must ensure SUSTech catering standard remain consistently high. It must also follow the strictest standards and regulations, while enforcing the most severe punishments under the most serious accountability regime, to ensure food safety for the people.
She cited cases of food safety incidents in Shenzhen, across China and around the world. As part of her analysis, Hua Yanping talked about the new food safety regulations for the catering industry in Shenzhen, the food safety risks in restaurant kitchens, the requirements for food workers and the legal supervisory standards.
Following the lecture, Hua Yanping went to the Lychee Hills cafeteria to guide the food safety management of the University. She was pleased to see that the catering services staff took food safety seriously.
