Signing ceremony attendees included Shenzhen Health Committee inspector Sun Meihua, SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, & Planning and Development Office Director Wang Susheng. Preparatory Office of Affiliated Hospitals Director Wang Pengfei presided over the signing ceremony.

Kangning Hospital President Liu Tiebang provided a briefing on the development of Kangning Hospital, saying that it is a specialized hospital that has rapidly developed with complete disciplines and first-class experts offering top mental health care. Cooperating with SUSTech to build a mental health center will further cultivate mental health professionals and improve the level of mental health care across Shenzhen and the region, through the application of complementary advantages.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi supported the comments of Kangning Hospital President Liu Tiebang, saying that SUSTech has attached great importance to the exploration and promotion of the development of “new medicine” at SUSTech. This unique opportunity allows SUSTech to cooperate with Kangning Hospital to develop a scientific and professional mental health discipline, which is the beginning of SUSTech’s goal to build a first-class, world-renowned mental health center.

Shenzhen Health Committee inspector Sun Meihua said that the partnership between SUSTech and Kangning Hospital provided numerous positive opportunities for mental health in Shenzhen, further enhancing the city’s mental health services. The improved talent pipelines and technological innovation that will arise from the cooperation will be perfect examples of the dual development opportunities of Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area. It will increase collaboration through teaching and research alliances, creation of talent pipelines, and the development of medical disciplines, specifically in health education and management. The work will contribute to the health care industry in Shenzhen, across the region and around China as a whole.
